Who is the Karnataka Minister who is involved in Gali Janardhana Reddy bail scam? According to some media reports, it is Central Congress Minister Veerappa Moily whose son allegedly had a role in the sordid affair.

The CBI reportedly found through its phone tapping that Veerappa Moily’s son had made several calls to those involved in the case, including the suspended CBI judge Pattabhi Rama Rao. The calls were made both before and after the bail was granted by the Minister’s son and the CBI suspects that he must have had a role in the scam.

It is widely known that Veerappa Moili had a close relation with the late Y S Rajasekhara Reddy when the latter was the Chief Minister. Moily was in-charge of AP Congress Affairs, and both had hit it off very well during those hey days. In fact it was because of this friendship that the Congress high command was said to have shifted him out the state after the fall-out with Jagan Mohan Reddy.

There are also unsubstantiated reports that Moily’s son held an important position in Bharathi Cements owned by Jagan. But what is the connection between Gali Janardhana Reddy and Moily who are political foes in Karnataka is not known.

It is however a curious coincidence that the two Ministers at the Centre and the State allegedly involved in the bail case are holding the Law and Justice portfolio!

The CBI has submitted its preliminary report on bail scam to the High Court Registrar. The arrests in the case are likely to be made after the High Court issues directions in this regard.
