It was only a formality, but Chandrababu Naidu as usual had gone through the painful motions of midnight politburo meeting before he announced the names for Rajya Sabha nominations.

As reported earlier by us, C M Ramesh and T Devender Goud were TDP’s choice. Chandrababu had given word to both of them on Rajya Sabha and he kept it.

“Considering their past service and what they could contribute in future, the party picked these people,” Chandrababu said.

The selection, however, left many TDP leaders both in Andhra and Telagana regions high and dry. Many argued that the nomination of these two would create a negative image of the party both in public mind and within the party.

However, Chandrababu stuck to his choice despite the stiff opposition.”I appeal to the partymen to understand the situation that we have only two seats in RS. A few people might be disappointed by this decision, but we are a disciplined party,” he said.

It is to be seen whether the disgruntled leaders would openly voice their opposition to the nominations.
