chandrababuChief Minister Chandrababu Naidu indirectly questioned the rationale of people like Pawan Kalyan who wanted a fight for Special Category Status on the lines of Jallikattu in Tamil Nadu.

“Where is the similarity between the two? Does that comparison mean anything? We have got more than we would get under Special Category. Why will I compromise if it is not in the interest of the State,” the Chief Minister said.

Several politicians including Pawan Kalyan and Jagan Mohan Reddy have thrown their weight behind the efforts to run a campaign like Jallikattu for SCS. Jagan’s YSR CP gave a call for candle light protest on January 26 in all district headquarters.

Chandrababu said he was cordial with the Centre only in the interest of the state. “We need a lot of funds for Polavaram and other projects. We have to maintain relations,” he said. Justifying the State Government undertaking the construction of Polavaram, he said nothing would have moved the way it is moving now, had the Centre been entrusted with the task. “Centre is a huge machinery,” he quipped.

The Chief Minister said he worked hard to bring back the life in Vizag after the Hud Hud devastation. “Now they want to go round with torches, and scare away the businessmen,” he remarked.
