Jagan group cornered

Jagan’s group in Congress is in a state of confusion. After challenging TDP to move the motion for no-confidence, the YSR  party is running for cover. That is because the MLAs owing loyalty to Jagan cannot now go back on their stand to vote for the motion.

But they cannot also actually vote against the government as that would mean instant disqualification. Given that Kiran has sufficient numbers, the government is not likely to fall. This will only mean that Jagan MLAs will lose their seats in the Assembly.

The Jagan MLAs – eleven to be exact, today met at MP Mekapati Chandrasekhara Reddy’s office at Gachibowli. Coming out of the meeting, the MLAs said that they would support TDP’s motion on farmers’ issues.

“But it is not our target to bring down the government,” added Pilli Subhash Chandra Bose.

This shows the confusion in the ranks on how to react to the no-confidence motion.

Despite Bose’s statement, it is almost impossible for these MLAs to vote against the government. They are not confident of getting enough MLAs on their side for pulling down Kiran.

Hence these contradictory statements that they would support the motion but don’t want the government to fall.

TDP’s gameplan in moving the motion seems to be working. The no-confidence will expose the chinks in various parties including YSR Congress Party and TRS.
