Most of the gold and jewelry besides cash is missing in the late Kaleshwar’s ashram in Penukonda in Anantapur district, alleged the Baba’s father Subbarayudu. He said the doors of the bedroom of Kaleshwar were opened on April 5 on the orders of the district collector. The cupboards in the room were also found to be empty, which means that some people managed to steal all of them, Subbarayudu said.

According to the late Baba’s father, all the rooms in the ashram were locked immediately after Kaleshwar was admitted into the hospital. After his demise, the doors of five rooms of the ashram were opened in the presence of RDO and 11 members of the Trust including his wife Shilpa.

The Trust interestingly consists of four foreigners, a lawyer, an auditor, manager Chandramouli Reddy, Kaleshwhar’s mother Subbamma, his brother-in-law Rupesh Kumar, his wife Shilpa and her father Bhaskar Reddy.

All the jewelry, golden crown of Lord Anjeneya, several other ornaments of Shirdi Sai Baba, Kaleshwar’s personal ornaments were all missing, Subbarayudu, who lives in Kadapa alleged.

He said that it was a mystery how the gold and jewelry was stolen and felt that the looting of the ashram had been happening for quite some time now. He said that the ashram needs at least Rs 10 lakh as monthly expenditure for regular maintenance. Alleging that his family including his daughters were receiving threats on phone to leave Kaleshwar’s affairs, Subbarayudu demanded the government to order an inquiry into the ashram affairs.

It may be mentioned here that Kaleshwar had an intercaste marriage with Shipa, and it is said that his wife’s family and his family did not get along well – the reason why Kaleshwar could not bring his family to live in his sprawling 20-acre ashram.
