Stung by defeat in Mahabubnagar, TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao reportedly is considering an alliance of pro-Telangana parties to consolidate the vote bank.

The sub-regional party tasted its first defeat in Mahabubnagar, where its minority candidate lost to BJP. The success in Mahabubnagar has enthused the saffron party so much that it is getting ready to emerge as an alternative to TRS in Telangana.

Conceding that BJP will have an edge in future elections in Telangana and can play spoilsport to TRS, KCR reportedly came up with the idea of forming a grand alliance with BJP, CPI and New Democracy.

While CPI has committed cadre in all districts of Telangana, New Democracy  has roots in Khammam where TRS is lagging behind. BJP wields considerable influence in urban areas of the region.

This combination would do a world of good to TRS in the long run, KCR apparently told his confidants. However, there are issues with such a tie-up as BJP and CPI and don’t see eye to eye politically.

KCR, however, is hopeful that in view of long term interests of all parties, a consensus for future seat sharing may be arrived at.

However, BJP’s Kishan Reddy earlier claimed that the party would go alone in 2014 elections without any alliance. But a proposal from TRS might be too tempting for BJP to resist.
