At last Polavaram project gets substantial funding from the Centre, as promised in the AP Bifurcation Act. Termed as Long Term Irrigation Fund (LTIF) under Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee (PMKSY), a Cheque worth of Rs.1981 Cr was received at a formal function at India Habitat Center in Delhi.
Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, Irrigation Minister D Uma Maheswasra Rao, Union MinistersArun Jaitley, Venkaiah Naidu, Uma Bharati, Y S Choudhary, Vijay Goel, Dr Sanjeev K. Balyan were present on the occasion. Speaking to the media on the occasion, Naidu said that it was a memorable day for him, as Polavaram was his first priority. With funds on hand, the project would be completed on time by the year 2018, he said.
