Congress MP Rayapati Sambasiva Rao’s woes seem to continue unabated. He was hoping to get out of his financial mess by procuring the 4,000 cr worth Polavaram tender. In fact, he has been keeping quiet though he was refused a ministry or at least TTD Board chairman, as he was reportedly promised by the party high command that his business interests will be taken care of.

It is after this understanding, sources say, that he was offered the much sought after Polavaram tender after the earlier bid by Sew Constructions failed. The state government did all it could to ensure that the tender went in favour of Rayapati-promoted Transstroy. So confident was Rayapati of getting the money-spinning tender that he made a donation worth Rs 5 cr to Goddess Padmavathi of Tiruchanur recently.

But his detractors, especially the rival companies including Soma Constructions and TDP MP Nama Nageswara Rao’s Madhucon left no stone unturned to find loopholes in Transstroy tender. Evidently, Transstroy’s experience certificates from Russia were all forged. The high-p0wer committee for the tender is clueless as what to do after it received letters from Indian Embassy in Mascow that all Transstroy’s certificates were fake.

Rayapati was hoping to get some Rs 500 cr as mobilization advance for Polavaram with which he hoped to tide over his financial crisis. But now things don’t seem to be moving his way.
