Thummala with KCR at the Swearing in Ceremony.

KCR’s new look cabinet is dominated by the upper caste combination, even though the BCs, the SCs, the STs and the minorities actually constitute the majority of the population in Telangana.

With the latest expansion, the new Telangana cabinet has as many as 11 members from upper castes. While Reddys have as many as 6 cabinet berths, the Velamas including KCR, are 4 in number, while the lone Kamma is Thummala Nageswara Rao.

Four berths were given to BCs, while SC, ST and minorities have one Minister each.

SCs alone form around 6 per cent of the population in Telangana, but only one berth was provided. Even in other positions, only Madigas had some representation, while Malas have been completely ignored. Koppula Eshwar is the only Mala who is  the Chief Whip in the Assembly.

Neither any woman member nor many long-standing members of TRS were given weightage by KCR in his  selection for cabinet posts.
