A Telugu is now the Commandant of the prestigious defence training institution National Defence College (NDC) in New Delhi. Lt Gen YVK Mohan, SM, VSM has on Sunday took over as the Commandant.   Lt Gen Mohan hails from Anantapur, and is the son of well-known doctor Y Ramasubbaiah.

Established in 1960, the National Defence College (NDC) is a premier training institution of the Ministry of Defence. The College is located on Tees January Road of Lutyen’s Zone in Delhi, in a grand British-era building. The Commandant is the overall in-charge of all the functioning of the college including academics and administration.

The NDC offers a very prestigious course attended only by a few hand-picked defence officers of Brigadier (one-star General) rank and from friendly foreign countries. Each year, approximately 25 officers from countries like the USA, UK, Canada, France, Germany, Australia, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, Nepal, UAE and others attend the course.
