Has Nayanatara, the leading South Indian film actress, converted to Hinduism for good? The 28-year-old actress, born as Diana Mariam Kurian, on Thursday visited Tirumala for a darshan of Lord Venkateswara.
Nayanatara, which is her screen name, reportedly converted to Hinduism after she had decided to marry Prabhu Deva.
On 7 August 2011, she converted to Hinduism at the Arya Samaj Temple in Chennai. She went through Shuddhi Karma, a procedure involving a Vedic purification. She even received a certificate of conversion.
She later fell out with Prabhu Deva and dropped her plans of marriage with him.
However, Nayanatara, a Malayali by birth, seems to have stuck to her conversion as is evident from her visit to Tirupati temple.
The actress is now back in films and has signed for three films in Telugu with Rana, Nagarjuna and Gopichand.
