PCC Chief Bocha Satyanarayana is always one step ahead of CM Kiran Kumar Reddy. In a damage-control exercise to his image in the sensational excise scandal, Bocha wrote a letter to CM for a CBI inquiry into the scam and made it public too.
By this one stroke, the ambitious Bocha succeeded in not only being perceived as a leader out to clear his name, but also in putting Kiran in the dock.
If Kiran were not to go ahead with CBI inquriy, which is most unlikely, Bocha will have the last laugh. The PCC chief, who believes that Kiran was behind the ACB raids and subsequent leaks to the media on liquor syndicates, now put the onus of proving it in CM’s court.
Till date, all efforts of CM to cut Bocha to size consistently failed with the latter always coming on top with his political shrewdness. So long as Kiran is seen as a political upstart who does not take his MLAs into confidence, Bocha will continue his efforts at dominating both the party and the government.
Since the Congress high command is not fully convinced of Kiran’s competence in taking everybody on his side, Bocha is riding the wave for the present.
