CBI Joint Director V V Lakshminarayana refused to sit in the Nampally CBI court during the hearings on Jagan case. As the court took up the case, Judge Nagamaruthi Sarma asked the CBI JD to take a seat. The latter said it was okay and kept standing on his legs. The hearing will take upto two hours, you can’t keep standing that long, the Judge said.
When the judge asked him why was he reluctant to take a seat, Lakshminarayana said that the lawyer colleagues did not like him to be sitting with them. “They think I am influencing you. They have also filed a case against me on this,” the JD told him.
When the Judge said respect demanded that he should be seated, the JD said he would do so if the Judge ordered. Finally, Lakshminarayana avoided sitting with the advocates, and went to the benches where the common public is seated.
Earlier, the JD was sitting alongside the CBI lawyer and would give inputs and suggestions to him. This was objected to by Jagan’s lawyers in the past.
During the arguments, the CBI lawyer Ravindranath brought to the notice of the court that CBI officers were investigating into the case at the cost of threat to their life. The CBI JD admitted there was some delay in the case because of lack of resources, but the agency would ensure that the case was expedited.
