The audio release of Gautamiputra Satakarni, actor Balakrishna’s 100th film, was organised on a mega scale, with thousands of teeming fans attending the elaborately organised event in Tirupati. Balakrishna looked cool with a designer-inspired warrior looking dress.
Balakrishna, in a moment of rare clarity, said that as an actor, he was also not suitable for all roles, but Satakarni was his dream character, given the historical importance for his 100th film. He said the film would not have been complete without Hema Malini in the film,
CM Chandrababu Naidu and Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu added attraction to the function. Cracking a joke that CM might have come to the event because Balayaa was his ‘viyaankudu’, Venkaiah said he was present because the film was about the historical Telugu personality. He heaped in his inimitable style lavish praises on NTR. “We see this lady (Suma) everyday, but don’t get bored,” he said in lighter vein, referring to the popular anchor.
CM Chanrababu Naidu said that making a film about a Telugu warrior Satakarni was a welcome move, as it made people realise their own history. “You made my task easy, as I would have to explain to everybody the importance of Satakarni,” he added.
Director Krish (Jagarlamudi Radhakrishna) said the film was a fulfillment of life dream for him. Had Satakarni been born in Greece or Rome, many books would have been written, and half-a-dozen movies would have been made. Krish thanked the media and the Telugu people for welcoming the news of Gautamiputra Putra with such enthusiasm.
Hema Malini, who spoke in Hindi, recalled that her film debut started in NTR’s Pandava Vanavasam in the year 1965. Shriya spoke a couple of words in English. Chirrantan Bhatt, the music director, said: “I am blessed to be here, and honoured to do music for Balakrishna’s 100th flim. The film is epic in more than one way.” He also promised to learn Telugu as soon as possible.
NBK’s second daughter, along with his wife, was an added attraction.
The day also coincided with Balakrishna blockbuster Legend movie celebrating its 1,005th day, running successfully in Archana Theatre in Proddatur town of Kadapa district.
