The cabinet reshuffle in Andhra Pradesh has left many aspirants, as expected, furious. Senior leaders in the party Bojjala Gopalakrishna Reddy and Gorantla Buchaiah Chowdary registered their protest by resigning as MLAs.
Bojjala was cut up that he should be stripped off of his berth in the name of his ill-health. Since my health does not permit me to function me as minister, I would not be able to continue as MLA either, Bojjala reportedly said in the letter to Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu. He also sent a copy of the letter to Governor ESL Narasimhan.
Chandrababu called up Bojjala several times during the day, and reportedly tried to explain his position.
Buchaiah Chowdary too dashed off his resignation letter to the CM, saying he was disturbed by the recent developments in the party. “Senior leaders like me in the party are being completely sidelined, despite being 5-time MLA. But turncoats, who join the party with expectations, are getting rewarded,” he said in his strongly-worded letter to the Chief Minister.
Vijayawada MLA Bonda Umamaheswara Rao, who expressed his discontent openly at being ignored, was later pacified by the Chief Minister. Others who were left high and dry in the cabinet reshuffle include Ponnur MLA Dhulipala Narendra, MLA Payyavula Keshav and Payakaraopet MLA Anitha.
