KCR family’s attempts at finding regional discrimination in APPSC Group I results seems to have fallen flat. MLAs Harish Rao, K T Rama Rao and Jagruthi Kavitha jumped at the possibility of rubbing more salt into Telangana wound when APPSC was accused of bias against the region’s candidates.

Andhra Jyothy broke the false story that candidates from Tirupati, CM’s home district, made it to the list of qualifying candidates to Group I Mains. The report also said that Telangana students were discriminated against. All hell broke loose and KTR demanded a separate Service Commission for Telangana.

The reality however has hit the T champions a little hard. While the claim was that as many as 120  Tirupati candidates made it in the exam, the fact was that only 33 were selected. The figures for all the centres is as follows: Hyderabad 259 (3184 appeared), Warangal 22 (378), Vijayawada 40 (776), Visakhapatnam 62 (886) and Tirupati 33 (637).

In terms of percentage, the lowest is Vijayawada with only 5.29 percent of students who appeared from this centre getting selection. Surprising that Warangal students could register 9.62 percent success given that the examination was held at the peak of recent Sakala Janule Samme.

When it was exposed that regional bias was a lie, Kavitha made some protests about Telugu medium students being meted out raw treatment. After that the TRS family seems to have backed out.

The APPSC howver has made some bludners with regard to tranlation of the question paper. An example is “reality show” which was translated as ప్రత్యక్ష ప్రదర్శన, which actually is a term for ‘live telecast’.  The Telugu medium students indeed have a point that this 50-marks question alone can spoil their chances.
