Every political party wants to make capital out of hooch tragedy in Mylavaram, Krishna district. TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu made a flash visit to the villages of the victims and launched a tirade against the government for the tragedy. He also declared that liquor shops would be run by government, when his party came into power.

Ruling Congress turned the tables on TDP, alleging that the adulterated country liquor was sold by people belonging to the opposition party. Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy, Gandra Venkata Ramana Reddy and Rudraraju Padmaraju demanded the government to take stringent action against those responsible people.

Chiranjeevi wrote an open letter to the Chief Minister urging him to cleanse the excise department. Criticizing TDP for taking political advantage of the tragedy, he said government should not depend on excise department for revenue. He wanted liquor syndicates to be busted. Meanwhile, the all-party delegation, which met the CM on the issue, declared that they would take up a joint action on the issue.

Jagan, not to be left behind, is visiting Mylavaram on Tuesday to talk to the victims’ families. His party already announced Rs 50,000 ex-gratia to the kin of the deceased.
