Despite all its efforts to implicate TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu in Emaar case, YSR Congress Party seems to have failed in its mission. Sakshi has been carrying on a campaign to suggest that the CBI has been letting Chandrababu off the hook in Emaar scam, which it claimed to have roots in TDP regime.

Besides running stories on Babu’s alleged role in Emaar on a daily basis in Sakshi, YSR Congress chief also ensured a case was filed in the Supreme Court with a plea to direct CBI to inquire into the former Chief Minister’s role in the Emaar scam. A nondescript freedom fighter, Bhimreddy Yellareddy, approached the apex court for the purpose.

According to TDP leader Revanth Reddy, Yellareddy was only a front and Jagan organized the case in Delhi. The plea was that the CBI should investigate the Emaar case from the year 2000 onwards and specifically look into the possible irregularities committed by the then CM in allotting land to Emaar.

The SC on Monday disposed of the case, following the clarification by CBI that it was seized of the matter starting from the year 2000 onwards and was inquiring into all aspects of the agreements from day one. The CBI in its affidavit reportedly said that it had no evidence to prove Chandrababu Naidu’s role in the scam, as yet.

The appeal filed by Emaar for striking off High Court’s order for CBI inquiry was also dismissed by the SC. Jagan seems to have lost the Emaar battle for now.
