Jayadev Galla, son of Minister Galla Aruna Kumari, will contest from Tirupati assembly seat vacated by Chiranjeevi, following his election to the Rajya Sabha.
Speaking to reporters in Tirupati, Gall Aruna said that her son, Managing Director of Amara Raja Batteries, will contest to the seat on Congress ticket.
It may be recalled that Jayadev, presently president of CII Andhra Pradesh Chapter, expressed his interest to enter politics and contest from Tirupati, if Chiranjeevi were to be elevated to RS.
Tirupati election is likely to be clubbed with bypolls for 17 other seats, which were necessitated by disqualification of the MLAs owing allegiance to Jagan Mohan Reddy. The next phase by-elections are likely in the state before August this year.
Bhumana Karunakara Reddy, former TTD chairman, will be YSR Congress candidate from Tirupati.
