It is not PCC Chief Bocha Satyanarayana who is liquor mafia don but Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy, says TDP MLA Revanth Reddy. He claims that the CM allowed additional production of 1.88 cr liters alcohol in the state. The CM gave permission to setting up new distilleries for more production. He also extended tax benefits to these companies.
“Kiran has involved in the liquor scam in a big way and it is for this reason that Bocha had demanded CBI inquiry into irregularities in excise department. Since then, Kiran has retreated on the issue,” Revanth pointed out.
Bocha knows that Kiran is making more money out of excise windfall through policy decisions and hence the former’s aggressive stand on CBI, according to the TDP MLA.
Interestingly, Congress had promised in its manifesto to introduce prohibition in the state in a phased manner, while actually liquor production is increasing by leaps and bounds.
Meanwhile, the ruling party has become vociferous in alleging that TDP MLA Devineni Uma’s men were involved in the hooch tragedy in Mylavaram. The Congress leaders R Padmaraju and Sivarami Reddy advised Chandrababu to cleanse his party of liquor mafia before targeting the government.
