R Narayana Murthy considers himself as a champion of Telangana. Making use of the sentiment in the region, the red star of Tollywood made a quickie Poru Telangana with himself in the lead. While movements are great, they don’t necessarily make commercially viable movies.
That’s what happened with Poru Telangana too. The movie, released on Sep 16, made little money despite the Telangana agitation being at its peak. Now, Narayana Murthy is planning to release the film once again. He has announced December 30 as the date of second release.
“The film could not attract as many audiences as expected because of the Sakala Janula Samme at that time,” he explained his reason for the second release. This is probably the first time in Tollywood that a film is being released a couple of months after its first release.
It is to be seen whether he will get his theaters on the one hand, and audiences on the other. Curiously, another Telangana film Inkennallu is set for the release on the same date – Dec 30!
