Priyanka Chopra has charged the highest remuneration for heroines in Bollywood for Zanjeer, the 1973 Amitabh Bachchan classic which is being remade in both Hindi and Telugu.
Ram Charan Tej is making his debut in Hindi film industry with the cult film. Priyanka, who is playing Jaya Bachchan’s role, is getting a whopping Rs 9 crore for her appearance. This is a very premium remuneration for an actress even by Hindi standards.
The leading stars like Kareena Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra herself are known to charge anywhere between Rs 3 crore to Rs 5 crore.
Ram Charan himself would not be getting this kind of pay for the film. The producer probably wanted to offset the image that the remake is any less because the hero is from the South. Getting Priyanka on board would certainly give that edge.
The other stars include Prakash Raj and Mahie Gill. The film’s shooting has already started.
