The news that Ram Charan Tej is getting paid a whopping Rs 12 crore for his Bollywood debut Zanjeer seems to be a publicity trick. The makers of the film are reported to have said that Ram Charan is already receiving a remuneration of Rs 10 crore for his Telugu films, which again is far-fetched.
There were reports earlier that the leading lady of the film Priyank Chopra was being paid Rs 9 crore, which was the highest for even a Hindi actress. Hindi heroines get less than Rs 4 crore even at the peak of their career, but this one was an exception as her dates were difficult to get for the prestigious remake, the film makers had said.
Now with the latest news that Ram Charan is getting an unbelievable Rs 12 crore, it is clear that both the figures have been substantially bloated to provoke curiosity in the film.
Not many established Bollywood heroes are demanding that kind of remuneration and to suggest that a regional hero making a debut will get paid such fantastic amount is impractical by any stretch of imagination.
