TDP’s rough patch continues as the Supreme Court refused to entertain the special leave petitions filed by TDP leaders. The apex court refused to stay the stay the orders of the AP High Court for a multi-agency inquiry into their assets.
The courts order is as follows: “We are not inclined to interfere with the orders of the High Court of AP, hyderabad. However, the petitioners are granted liberty to apporach the high court for modification or vacation of the interim order. The HC is requested to dispose the application within 15 days.”
Sakshi TV as usual flogged the story till death with stories about the ‘loot’ of Chandrababu Naidu. Lakshmi Parvathi contributed her mite to the assault.
Interestingly, the judges who disposed of the appeal, Justices Dalveer Bhandari and Deepak Misra, are the same who decided the case filed by Jagan against CBI inquiry.
TDP leaders Nama Nageswara Rao and C M Ramesh and media baron Ramoji Rao had filed the SLPs. Two senior lawyers Anil Diwan and Uday Lalith argued for TDP leaders, Jagan camp brought in a powerful battery of three lawyers – Ram Jethmalani, Mukul Rohtagi and Sushil Kumar Jain.
Those in the know say that Jagan was not as careful in his selection of lawyers when he approached SC in his own case, as he has been in the current case involving TDP.
While the TDP leaders will approach the High Court with their petition as suggested by the apex court, it is likely the CBI will go ahead with the probe immediately. The Enforcement Directorate has already issued notices to NTR Trust Bhavan, Nara Lokesh and Sujana Chowdary over Fema issues.
