TRS student wing leader Balka Suman has been taken into custody by police. More than a hundred cases ranging from disruption, destruction of public properties to manhandling officers on duty are pending against him.
Especially, during the peak of the Telangana agitation, Suman was prominent through his activities, participating in all kinds of agitations and dharnas in and out of Osmania University premises.
He is also reportedly an accused in the destruction of statues case on Tank Bund during the Million March. As TRSV president, he called for bandh of educational institutions several times in the past and was accused of extorting money from them.
Suman gained notoriety after he physically attacked rival student leader in a TV live debate.
After a brief gap, the TRSV leader surfaced once again during the Raj Gopal episode at Khairatabad RTA office episode, when he along with some other TRS leaders were charged with assaulting an official on duty.
Suman has been absconding since the Tank Bund incident, according to the police. He spent most of his time in Telangana Bhavan to escape imminent arrest. Later, he moved to Delhi to avoid the police dragnet.
However, since there is a strong possibility of Suman being arrested under Preventive Detention Act any time, the student leader was apparently advised by his party leaders to surrender before the police. He was reportedly assured that the party would help to lessen the severity of cases.
