Whatever was the reason for Vayalar Ravi to have a breakfast meeting with Chiranjeevi at the latter’s residence, it seems to have caused heartburn among the other leaders. Former Minister Damodar Reddy took objection to Ravi going to one leader’s house. The Delhi envoy choosing to visit one leader sends wrong signal to the party cadre, he said.
Damodar Reddy, who has been lying low for some time now, said Vayalar’s action would only encourage group politics within Congress. This will further damage the prospects of the party in the next polls and Congress may end up getting even less than 26 seats, he warned.
The Nalgonda leader was a staunch separate Telangana leader some time back, but later calmed down after Kiran took over as CM. It was said he was expecting a berth in the cabinet. In between, he also took on Botsa Satyanarayna, saying two posts for one person should be done away with.
It is not clear whether the latest salvo against Chiranjeevi has community overtones, since the party seems to relying on the Kapu leaders of late. Earlier, Gulam Nabi Azad too made a visit to Chiranjeevi’s house.
