Why did Ramachandraiah burst out at Congress Party? A major reason for Ramachandraiah’s anxiety is the fact that a whole lot of former PRP men are leaving for greener pastures in view of Congress Party’s apathy.
When PRP got merged with Congress, the idea was that Kapu/Balija community would shift its loyalties to Congress. But the reality has been different.
Take Rayalaseema for example, where Balijas are a major force. Many leaders from this community are now deserting to join TDP or YSR Congress Party.
Chadalavada Krishnamurthy, Pasupuleti Brahmaiah, D K Audikesavavulu Naidu, Gunipati Ramaiah are some of the former PRP leaders who are looking towards TDP.
It is this trend that seems to have disturbed Ramachandraiah, himself a former TDP man. He believes that the Congress Party’s failure to take the former PRP leaders into confidence is the reason for the exodus.
This development is likely to have a longterm effect on the PRP group within Congress, as they would be left with no rank and file in the region.
