Congress Rajya Sabha member and senior leader from Telangana K Keshava Rao has been making desperate efforts to secure party nomination for the second time. He left no stone unturned to support his case.

Besides making appeals to the high command through other Telangana MPs and MLAs, KK has been meeting with many top leaders in Delhi to impress upon them about his candidature.

Once a bitter critic of CM Kiran Kumar Reddy, KK is now trying to humour him. His acerbic Telangana stand during the height of the agitation and sharp remarks about the government in the state did not go too well with the high command. However, realizing later that he might have crossed the limits, KK has been lying low on Telangana issue for some time now.

But the former PCC cheif’s retraction appears to be too late and too little, given that Kiran, whom he met even on Friday in Delhi, did not give any assurance.

It was said earlier that KK, along with some other Telangana Congress leaders, might be considering defecting to TRS for the 2014 polls. However, as the political situation continues to be fluid in the state and in the prevailing uncertainty, KK seems to have thought it best to stick to Congress and make all-out efforts to get the ticket.

It would be easy for him to take a decision to leave the party before the next general elections, if Congress were to deny him nomination, which is most likely.
