The way accused IAS officer Srilakshmi managed to get out of Chanchalguda jail in a matter of 24 hours is baffling the political class. Srilakshmi was in CBI custody for three days before she was handed over to judicial remand as per court orders.
Few expected that her bail petition would be allowed given both the seriousness of the charges levelled against her by the CBI as well as the recent such instances where the high and the mighty in high profile cases were bluntly refused freedom.
Even while Gali brothers and former Mines Director VD Rajagopal are still languishing behind bars, Srilakshmi could walk free barely a day after she was incarcerated. The interesting part is that she had a definite inkling of her getting bail because she did not carry even pair of clothes along with her to the jail, which is normally the case with most of the other prisoners.
