During the heated debate on liquor syndicates in the Assembly on Friday, Chandrababu Naidu dared the government to arrest him, if he was an accused in any case. He was reacting to CM Kiran Kumar Reddy’s charge that Naidu was an accused in an ACB case, but still did not step down as Chief Minsiter.
Kiran said Minister Mopidevi, who allegedly received Rs 10 lakhs as kickbacks from liquor syndicates, was not accused in any case. The government cannot take any action based on the evidence provided by a criminal, the CM defended.
An enraged Opposition Leader launched a virulent attack against Kiran and asked the government to arrest him if he was an accused in any case. “You are in the government, and if you cannot take any action against me, it’s a shame on you,” he said.
Chandrababu gave details of the ACB case against him, which he said was dismissed by the High Court. He went on hurling allegations at the CM, who he said was not fit to be in the chair.
Kiran was earlier equally rude and freely used foul language against the Opposition Leader. Chandrababu later said Kiran was a weak Chief Minister, which was the primary cause for the deterioration in the decorum of the House.
