Chandrababu Naidu sought to counter the allegations against him in the aftermath of CBI preliminary inquiry against him. He said YSR appointed 14 House Committee, 3 Cabinet Sub-Committees, one CID inquiry and scores of other investigations against him during the latter’s first term but came up with nothing.
“You laid hands on some hotel pic in Singapore from the internet and claimed I owned the property. I have offered to pay percentage to anybody who can sell that property on my behalf, but no response till date, “he said raising a pitch in his voice.
On his alleged benami properties, he sarcastically said that Congress might even say that Assembly buildings were his benami property. Referring to seven other respondents in his case, the TDP leader questioned whether all the Congress MPs and MLAs who are into businesses were Sonia Gandhi benamis.
He alleged that those who were unduly benefited by YSR government were being projected as his benamis. He gave the example of Kakinada Sea Port. He said the port bid was granted according to norms in his government, but later YSR brought in Karnati Ramamohan Rao and extended favours to him.
“And you have the audacity to call Rao my benami when these are the facts,” he charged.
