Andhra Pradesh will get only three seats for Rajya Sabha out of the four the Congress Party can nominate. This is the sense that Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy gave to the media persons whom he met informally in Delhi on Friday.

Though Kiran was not forthcoming on the names finalized, it is reliably learned that the names of Chiranjeevi and Renuka Chowdary have been okayed by the party high command. While Chiru’s nomination has been in the air for some time, Renuka apparently was handpicked by the Congress leadership.

The fight is getting hot for the third slot among K Keshava Rao, former speaker K Suresh Reddy and Deccan Chronicle owner Venkatram Reddy. While the high command is suspicious of KK over his loyalties in the wake of Telangana agitation, CM Kiran is said to be pushing the case of his long-time friend Suresh Reddy.

Meanwhile, the fourth candidate will be from other states. Congress Party general secretary Shakeel Ahmad (originally from Bihar) may get renominated. AP affairs in-charge Gulam Nabi Azad is reportedly recommending the case of Naghma, the former Bollywood and Tollywood actress.
