Senior TDP leader and MLC Dadi Veerabhadra Rao resigned from the party. Rao has been upset with the party chief Chandrababu Naidu, as the party did not give him ticket in the recent MLC elections. The four time MLA from Anakapalle in Visakhapatnam was made MLC by TDP following his defeat in 2009 elections.
“I along with my family members hereby tender our resignation to our beloved Telugu Desam Party,” Dadi wrote in his letter of resignation.
Dadi’s resignation is a major blow to the party, as he has been with the party since it inception. He was made a minister by the late NTR. Dadi has been a quintessential TDP man in his anti-Congressism all through and is known to have remained honest through his long political career in TDP.
Veerabhadra Rao has been TDP floor leader in the Legislative Council and expected that he would automatically get an extension. He expressed his dissatisfaction against the party when the announcement was made. He also made scathing remarks on the leadership of Naidu, saying that the party chief was more inclined towards candidates with money bags than senior party leaders like him who stood by him through thick and thin.
While he expressed his ire at the party, Rao continued in the party as his term was to expire today. On the last day of his term, he sent his resignation to the party.
“Though we are unhappy to exit from the party, the circumstances in the party forced me to take this decision and we very much regret for it,” Dadi concluded his letter to Chandrababu Naidu.
Unconfirmed reports say that Dadi Veerabhadra Rao is likely to join either YSR CP or the ruling Congress.
