Jagan and his supporters have always been accusing Reliance Ambanis of plotting the death of Y S Rajasekhara Reddy. When some news channels took up in January 2010 a discussion on the claim of a foreign website over alleged Ambani conspiracy in the helicopter crash of YSR, YSR fans went on a rampage attacking Reliance retail outlets in the state.
Till date, it remained unclear as to why Jagan and his group were pointing fingers at Ambanis, especially Mukesh Ambani. Now TDP leader Somireddy Chandrasekhara Reddy has an explanation.
In a press conference on Saturday, Somireddy alleged that Jagan had tried to blackmail Mukesh Ambani over KG Basin exploitation. YSR government tried to scuttle Ambani’s plans to bid for KG basin by floating an exploration company in the government sector.
Not only that, Jagan actually went to Mumbai to make it clear to Ambani that they cannot do business in KG Basin without taking YSR and Jagan into confidence. Apparently, Mukesh refused even to give an appointment to Jagan.
A peeved Mukesh is said to have complained to Congress supremo Sonia Gandhi over Jagan’s indirect threats. Sonia apparently expressed her unhappiness over Jagan’s indiscretion to his father, Chief Minister YSR.
Subsequently, YSR government did not even go ahead with the proposed exploration company in the government sector. It is because of this past that Jagan suspects Ambani’s role in the helicopter crash, according to Somireddy.
It was because of this bitter experience that Jagan has been accusing Mukesh Ambani of aiding Ramoji Rao by allegedly buying a stake in Ushodaya Enterprises through Nimesh Kampani, a Mumbai-based investor.
Vijayamma’s latest petition in AP High Court reiterates that Chandrababu Naidu allegedly used his clout with Ambanis to bail out Ramoji Rao in distress. Somireddy asked why Ambani would benefit Ramoji Rao for the sake of the TDP leader, who was by then sitting in the opposition.
