This happens rarely, and would certainly gladden the hearts of Telugu lovers.
Senior bureacrat and former RBI Governor Y Venugopal Reddy brought out his autobiography in Telugu first. The book ‘Naa Jnaapakalu’ was released on Friday at a programme in Hyderabad by veteran politician S Jaipal Reddy.
Speaking on the occasion, Venugopal Reddy, born in Kadapa in Andhra Pradesh, said that Telugu was his heart, while English was his mind. Hence he wanted to bring out his memoirs in Telugu first as a matter of ‘sentiment’. The English version will come out in a couple of months, he said.
Former bureaucrats writing memoirs is not a new thing, for even those from Telugu states. Mohan Kanda, another well-know All India Services officer, has been prolific in his writings. But bringing out their autobiography in Telugu before it was even written in English is a rare occurrence.
Dr Yaga Venugopaa Reddy, a Padma Vibhushan awardee, was also chairman of the 14th Finance commission.
