“I got the revenue for Hyderabad, and you don’t even know how to make good use of it,” AP CM Chandrababu Naidu said in Hyderabad on Wednesday. Chandrababu was referring to Telangana CM KCR and his party’s attack against TDP government for the ongoing dispute over power generation at Srisailam.
There is only negativity with TRS government, and they can do nothing positive, Chandrababu said, pointing out how KCR had failed to plan in advance and tackle the looming power crisis.
In the last couple of days, the TRS leaders and Ministers have been blaming Chandrababu Naidu for the worsening power situation in Telangana. TDP Nalgonda office was burned down by TRS workers on Tuesday against what the pink party dubbed as denial of power to their state.
TRS is limited to one region and hence can indulge in destructive and revengeful acts, but TDP is present in both regions and hence could not behave similarly, said Chandrababu Naidu. He said that the TRS government was depleting scarce water resources by resorting to power generation from left canal. TRS government was desperately trying to blame others for their incompetence, said Chandrababu Naidu, and added that the behaviour of TRS was improper.
He said that even though the TS government did not have right to generate power from left canal at the current water levels, the AP government assured them 300 MW of power in lieu of stopping power generation, which will create crisis for irrigation and drinking water requirements in the near future. “It is not as though as we had surplus power; we are buying at Rs 6 per unit. Still, we wanted to help the Telangana farmers. But KCR has no time for all this. He can’t even get Jurala back on track after all these days,” Chandrababu said.
Even the Krishna Water Board sent a letter to Telangana government against drawing water beyond the normal releases against the prevailing orders, he said.
