Jayaprada is all set to contest in the forthcoming Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls as Amar Singh’s candidate. Yes, the Rajahmundry girl has not deserted the UP politician even in his worst days. Amar Singh has launched a new party Lok Manch, following his fall-out with Mulayam Singh Yadav’s Samajwadi Party.
The actress-turned politician will contest from any constituency that her SP rival Azam Khan, according Lok Manch leaders. It was from Rampur, Azam Khan’s native constituency, that Jayaprada won in 2004 and later in 2009 UP Lok Sabha polls.
TheSP ticket was given to her on Amar Singh’s insistence, though Azam Khan the local strongman of SP was aspiring for it. That was the beginning of the rift between Amar and Mulayam.
Amar Sing is currently caught in a vortex of problems – political, legal, financial and personal. He was recently diagnoised with cancer and is undergoing treatment.
But Jayaprada, who was once with Telugu Desam and was nominated as its Rajya Sabha Member in 1996, continue to follow Amar Singh, despite all these negative developments. What is it that binds her to a man, who is better known as wheeler dealer than a principled politicians is not known.
TDP was in favour of her rejoining after the SP fiasco, but Jayaprada did not any interest. She is getting more active in UP, which she described as her ‘karmabhoomi’ with elections round the corner.
