Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy on Wednesday rubbished YSR Congress Party argument that the freeze on the bank accounts of Jagan’s media houses was an assault on the freedom of the press.

“This is absolutely misleading. The freeze on the accounts is part of the process of investigation being conducted by the CBI into Jagan’s assets,” he told the press persons at Anakapalli. He said it was not correct to take the protection of a newspaper and a channel to shield misdeeds.

The Chief Minister also denied that the government had anything to do with CBI’s action. “The investigation is being done on the directions of the court. The CBI is doing its job on its own. The YSR Congress is only trying to get political mileage by such false accusations,” he said.

Kiran also denied the allegations made by CPM leader Raghavulu that he had purchased assignment lands in Karnataka. He clarified that he did own any lands in Karnataka.
