Will Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy be replaced after the ensuing by-polls? Congress leadership in Delhi is said to be seriously considering a change of leadership in Andhra Pradesh to revive the party’s declining fortunes.
A leadership change is imminent in Andhra Pradesh once the upcoming bypolls are over, so say AICC sources as well as top leaders from the state who last week met with the Congress high command in the capital.
Sonia Gandhi, not known to make her mind public on any issue, apparently conveyed her disappointment at the way the party and the government were being run in the state.
The party supremo was especially said to be upset with the performance of both chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and PCC chief Botsa Satyanarayana, who were working at cross purposes.
“This cannot continue and heads will roll after the bypolls,” is, according to sources, the message from 10 Janpath.
There is a strong possibility that Telangana Congress leadership will have a pride of place in the new pecking order. Sonia as well Rahul Gandhi are sadi to be unhappy that regional balance was not maintained in choosing the Chief Minister as well as the PCC chief.
It is in this backdrop that D Srinivas and Minister K Janareddy have changed tack and are mobilizing support for their respective candidatures for the top post.
