Who is feeling uncomfortable with Lok Pal bill becoming a law? KCR and his family, says Dalit intellectual Prof Kancha Ilaiah. A staunch critic of TRS and its associate intellectuals, Prof Ilaiah once again lambasted the present leadership of Telangana movement in an article in Andhra Jyothy, alleging that their achievements lie in Audi cars and farm houses than in liberating the poor of Telangana.
Taking potshots at Prof Kodandaram and other professors in the movement, the Urdu University professor said those who never read books nor write anything sensible have not only become professors but also actors thanks to the agitation for separate state. Kodandaram acted in one of the recent films on Telangana.
He also ridiculed Kodandaram for ‘never teaching anything in classes’ but assuring students of getting certificates and jobs instantly in Telangana. He also made fun of ‘Telangana intellectuals’ for whom reading and writing became an anathema. They are more at ease with rabble-rousing speeches.
Referring to the statements of KCR recently over reviving the movement, Prof Ilaiah says that the threat was a reaction to the flow of funds getting dried up in recent times. Unless emotions are provoked, these leaders cannot thrive in Telangana, he says. These leaders want to continue to prolong the so-called movement till their ill-gotten wealth gets legal status.
Lastly, there is an interesting reference to CM Kiran Kumar Reddy’s language. In a TV interview, Kiran reportedly said, ” We have conducted the Telangana movement without any firing of a single bullet”. It is indeed surprising that Kiran can use such an inappropriate expression. He probably wanted to say that ‘handled’ instead of ‘conducted’ which gives an entirely different meaning.
