Even as Jagan Mohan Reddy is behind bars, many MLAs, from both ruling Congress and the opposition TDP seem to be heading to YSR Congress Party. Bobbili MLA Sujaya Ranga Rao announced his decision to resign to his party and join Jagan party on the day the MP was arrested. Another MLA from Parvathipuram Jayamani is said to be on her way to switch loyalties.
Chinnam Ramakotaiah, the first time MLA from Nuziveedu, on Thursday announced that he was resigning from TDP. Though he did not say in so many words, Ramakotiah is headed to Jagan’s camp.
Kakinada Congress MLA Dwarampudi Chandrasekhara Reddy is all set to meet Vijayamma and even campaign for Jagan’s candidate in Ramachandrapuram by-election.
TDP MLA from Mantralayam Balanagireddy has been in touch with Jagan for a long time now, and he even tried to meet Jagan at Chanchalguda jail on Wednesday. He can be considered as having left TDP for all practical purposes.
The YSR Congress reportedly has been in touch with many Congress and TDP MLAs who want to cross the floor, but Jagan apparently wanted only one or two MLAs to announce their decision at a time to keep the pot boiling and to throw the Congress and TDP into utter confusion.
Many of these MLAs see bright political future in YSR Congress as the party seems to have a strong wave and a sympathy factor working in its favour. People are behind Jagan for good or bad at this juncture and it makes sense to go with the flow is the logic behind the move.
