“I don’t have any soft corner towards Jagan,” clarifies Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy. In an interview, Kiran said he knew Jagan only as Y S Rajasekhara Reddy’s son and otherwise had no relation with him.
Kiran also made it clear that the Congress Party would not consider YSR as corrupt. “He was a Congressman and died as a Congress Chief Minister. CBI is investigating whether YSR had any role in helping Jagan amassing illegal wealth. Till it is proved othewise, we respect YSR as our leader and as our Chief Minister,” Kiran said.
Stating that even during the late NTR’s regime there was corruption which occurred without the latter’s knowledge, the CM said it was possible that the irregularities happened during YSR period without his knowing. “We oppose Jagan strongly because he formed his own party and is fighting against the Congress. But we cannot criticize YSR till anything is proved against him,” Kiran made it clear.
Pointing out that the party leaders were reacting to Jagan periodically, the Chief Minister said as and when required he would be countering Jagan’s criticism. For Congress, Chandrababu and Jagan are equal political rivals, he said.
On Botsa Satyanarayana, the CM said the media should first decide for itself whether he was targeting the PCC chief or helping him. “The competition among the channels is resulting in this sensationalism,” he quipped.
