Nag as Shirdi Saibaba

Telugu film industry seems to be moving towards mythologicals, devotionals and period films after a long time. Even as Nagarjuna is donning the role of the popular Shirdi Sai Baba in the direction of veteran Raghavendra Rao, another senior actor Venkatesh is getting ready for a film on Swami Vivekananda, who rekindled the spirit of Hinduism across the world.

Following the critical acclaim received by Sri Rama Rajyam, Balakrishna reportedly is reviving his plans for his long-pending Nartanasala. Balakrishna wants to remake this classic and play the role of NTR as Arjuna in this film. Balayya had to abandon this project earlier, but he is all set to revive the same now.

A production house has announced plans to remake the Bharani classic Vipranarayna. This devotional had ANR and Bhanumathi in the lead characters. The remake being planned by Balaji Real Media is likely to have Nagarjuna as Vipranarayana, and Bhanumathi character may be assayed by an actress from Hindi industry.

Mohan Babu, one of the few actors who can assay some of our famous mythological characters, is preparing to be cast as Ravana in a film titled Ravana Brahma. Screen work is going on for the film to be directed by Raghvavendra Rao.

Well-known director Gunasekhar is planning to make a film on Rani Rudrama Devi with Anushka Shetty most likely in the lead. The script work for the film is already completed.

Vekatesh film on Vivenkanada is being directed by Mani Shankar. The film will go on sets after the shooting of Shadow is completed.

So the audience can take a break from the mass masala films and can look forward to some refreshing old themes.
