KCR’s nephew Umesh Rao has become a thorn in the flesh for TRS supremo. Umesh Rao, who was once a close confidant, turned a bitter enemy of KCR after he was denied recognition within the party. Umesh joined Congress Party in 2006 and is now its official spokesperson. But his energies are mostly concentrated on attacking TRS at the slightest opportunity.
Umesh Rao has now filed a petition in High Court alleging that Telangana Bhavan for which land was allotted by the state government was being used for commercial purposes. An extent of 2 acres was given to TRS in the heart of Banjara Hills by the then chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy.
The GO issued for the purpose explicitly prohibits using the land for any business or commercial purposes. Umesh, in his 250 page petition pointed out that T Channel, being run by a registered company with directors on board, has its office within Telangana Bhavan premises, which is illegal and violative of the GO.
Umesh had earlier made a similar complaint to the Chief Secretary. As there has been no action on his plea, he approached the court. No government on its own will act against TRS, but the court’s intervention might be a different ball game.
Many people wonder as to how KCR launched the channel from Telangana Bhavan, knowing fully well that it was against the law.
