YSR Congress Party leaders have demanded a Z category security their chief Jagan Mohan Reddy. They alleged that the government was being deliberately vindictive over providing security cover to their leader.

Jagan has been provided with a bullet-proof vehicle alnd 4 plus 4 security by the state government. The bullet-proof vehicle has been giving a lot of trouble, but instead of replacing with a new one, the police department has been sending the same vehicle after repairs, the party leaders K K Mahender Reddy and Rehman alleged.

They represented to Mahender Reddy, Additional DG  Intelligence, to review the security arrangements to Jagan. They said during his Sangareddy tour on Monday, the bullet-proof vehicle developed problems mid way and Jagan had to shift to a friend’s car.

“Jagan is always with the people and in villages. He has toured an unprecedented 18,000 kilometers across the state till date. People throng to his meetings. He is exposed to security threats,” they said.

MLAs who resigned and who have been contesting on YSR Congress Party ticket have also been withdrawn gunmen by the government. Speaking to the media, the former MLAs Srikanth Reddy, Amaranatha Reddy and Srinivasulu said they were not bothered by the government’s vindictive action.

However, the party leaders in their representation to Intelligence DG made a plea to restore gunmen as the ex-MLAs face security threats.

Meanwhile, Jagan’s personal security, which is elaborate, is reported to be very highhanded during Jagan’s tours. During his latest visit to Sangareddy, residents as well as presspersons faced inconvenience as Jagan’s personal security and fans went overboard.

One of Jagan’s personal security personnel had hit a boy who tried to catch a glimpse of Jagan while he was commiserating with a victim of communal clashes that erupted in the town recently.

The security personnel, local police and Jagan’s fans pushed away people and mediapersons from getting near their leader.

According to an Indian Express report, the heavy security cordon around Jagan drew flak from the public. “No political leader, including Opposition leader Chandrababu Naidu, home minister Sabitha Indra Reddy or deputy chief minister Damodar Rajanarasimha, who have Z-plus security, came with such a big convoy to console the victims,” people said.

They wondered whether Jagan came to console the victims or to show off his strength. Jagan’s supporters followed him in about 200 vehicles to Sangareddy.
