A total of 13 chargesheets will be filed against YSR Congress chief Jagan Mohan Reddy, the CBI told the Nampally court on Monday. In all these chargesheets, Jagan will be accused number one, while Vijaya Sai Reddy will be number two, the CBI lawyer informed the court.
The court was hearing arguments on the bail petition by Vijaya Sai Reddy, who is presently lodged in Chanchalguda jail.
The CBI argued that Vijaya Sai played a key role in getting funds illegally to Jagan from various sources and that both will be charged under different sections in a series of chargesheets.
The daylong arguments in the court saw Sushil Kumar, Vijaya Sai Reddy’s lawyer and Ravindranath, CBI lawyer locked in a battle of wits. Sushil Kumar said that the chargesheet contained no substantial proof of any wrongdoing by Vijaya Sai and hence it should be trashed.
He argued that the prosecution had mentioned a figure of Rs 1246 crore initially but now said only Rs 19 crore was the amount of funds that flowed into Jagathi against norms. “But that is a big amount,” CBI lawyer retorted.
Judge Nagamaruthi Sarma, referring to CBI lawyer’s plea that they were working with few resources, that he could not give any lineance on that score and directed that the chargesheets should be filed without much delay
The case was posted for hearing on April 12 for judgement.
