Jagan Mohan Reddy meeting Sujana Chowdary in Parliament Central Hall has created ripples back home . The two belonging to rival parties spent almost an hour privately. What transpired between the two is not known, but the very fact that the two were huddled together itself is seen as interesting in political circles.
Jagan’s mother Vijayamma named Satyanarayana Chowdary, alias Sujana Chowdary of Sujana Group of Industries as one of the respondents in her petition against Chandrababu Naidu. She alleged that the TDP Rajya Sabha MP was a benami of Naidu and laundered hundreds of crores of rupees through foreign route with the help of TDP chief.
Apparently, Chowdary went to Jagan who with fellow MPs and supporters Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy and Sabbam Hari in the Central Hall. He wished Jagan happy birthday and suggested they talked privately aside. Then both Jagan and Chowdary were closeted in another corner.
The curious meet between Jagan and Chowdary comes in the wake of Sakshi paper recently publishing a screaming banner story about Sujana indulging in various white collar crimes, which needed thorough investiation.
TDP circles are agog with the tetete between the two rival party MPs. They are angry that such a thing will only send confusing signals to the party cadre. “Even as Jagan is attacking TDP and Chandrababu and dragged him into courts, how can Chowdary have a meet like this? This will demoralize our cadres,” a TDP senior functionary fumed.
Chandrababu is likely to ask for an explanation from Chowdary on the row. Chowdary probably would have talked about the need to keep out businesses in political campaigns against one another, but it is surprising that Jagan thought it appropriate to sit with Chowdary in the current sensitive situation,” another TDP leader expressed dismay.
