Sakshi took special interest in publishing a story on Balakrishna’s family role in Emaar scam. The actor’s family bought a plot measuring 2077 sq. yards in Boulder Hills in the name of Brahmani, Balakrishhna’s daughter.
Their stand that they purchased the plot at Rs 5,000 per sq. yard as per the records does not wash with those in familiar with the case. Unless it was done as a favour to former Chandrababu Naidu, who is the father-in-law of Brahmani, in whose name was plot registered.
It may be recalled that the media has been writing extensively on the statements given to the CBI by those who bought Emaar plots.
While the charge has been that Emaar actually sold the plots at prices ranging from Rs 30,000 to Rs 50,000 a sq. yard, the registered documents mentioned only Rs 5,000 in order to defraud the APIIC, which lost its rightful share in this money.
During CBI interrogation, a whole lot buyers confirmed that they had paid more than Rs 5,000 to Koneru Prasad and Tummala Rangarao, who were dealing with the transactions.
It is now CBI case that all this black money went into Jagan’s coffers through Sunil Reddy, who was paid this black money by Koneru and Tummala.
In this backdrop, Balarkrishna’s wife Vasundhara, who was questioned by the CBI, stuck to her stand saying that the family paid only Rs 5,000 per sq. yard. Accordingly, an amount of Rs 1,05,51,500 was paid, she told the CBI.
Whether CBI believed her stand or not, they are not likely to do anything about it, because the agency cannot pursue one single episode in a case, those familiar with the Emaar scam point out.
