A day after Gali Janardhana Reddy Party BSR Congress was drubbed in Karnataka elections, YSR CP in Andhra Pradesh received a blow in the Supreme Court.
The bail petitions of Jagan Mohan Reddy and Nimmagadda Prasad were rejected by the Supreme Court today. In another upset, Vijaya Sai Reddy, who has been on bail in the case, was asked by the court to go to jail again. He has been given time till June 5 to surrender, in view of his daughter’s marriage.
YSR CP leaders, including Jupudi Prabahakara Rao, have been exuding confidence that Jagan was all set to get bail this time around. Their hopes seemed to have relied on the fact that Supreme Court was critical of the functioning of the CBI, especially over the Centre’s control on the affairs of the premier investigative agency.
It has been almost a year since Jagan has been lodged in Chanchalguda Jail. He would have an opportunity to apply for a fresh bail after 4 months, since the SC asked CBI to complete investigation during this period.
Meanwhile, the YSR Congress Party leaders blamed the CBI for the apex court’s decision, which they said had been concocting stories against Jagan and influencing the court against him.
