TRS Party’s creditable win in four seats was marred by its defeat in Mahabubnagar. TRS candidate Gampa Govardhan secured the highest majority in Kamareddy, where TDP lost deposit.
With this byelection, TRS, however, will have added four more MLAs to its numbers. TRS will have a strength of 18 MLAs in the Assembly.
Nagam Janardhan Reddy, who contested as Independent won in Nagarkurnool, where Congress got second position. TDP managed to get good numbers in Station Ghanpur, where TRS Rajaiah is the successful candidate. TDP also gave a disappointing performance in Adilabad where it stood in third place.
Jupally Krishna Rao won in Kollapur but not with great majority, where Congress was in second position.
But the one big upset for TRS is Mahabubnagar, where it lost to BJP by 2010 votes.
TDP and the ruling Congress, who lost in all the six seats in Telangana, can take some solace from the fact they may not lose deposits in all the seats.
Reacting to the election outcome, TRS chief KCR called upon the leaders in Congress and TDP to desert those parties, which were rejected by the people. He also made a plea to Sonia Gandhi and Manmohan Singh to introduce Telangana bill in Parliament in view of the people’s mandate.
The Results show that:
